The movie ‘Elvis’: Release date, cast, and everything we know about the Austin Butler-led movie
Long live the king! Elvisthe Baz Luhrmann musical film based on the life of Elvis Presley and the people who helped him become the “King of Rock And Roll”, will be in theaters soon. Austin Butler was tasked with slipping his feet into Elvis’ blue suede boots and rhinestone jumpsuit, but he wasn’t the only big star involved in the production.
The film, which is rated PG-13, is a biographical musical, which means it’s not a simple biopic. Elvis will see Tom Hanks plays Colonel Tom Parker, the former festival staff-turned-music manager and promoter who helped discover Elvis. Chris Isaak, Denzel Curry, Jack White, Lenesha Randolph, Jazmine Sullivan, Les Greene, Nardo Wick, Paravi, Pnau, Rufus Thomas, Stevie Nicks, Swae Lee & Diplo, Tame Impalaand Yola will appear on the background music. Elvis will also feature the cast of Alton Mason, Austin Butler, Smith-McPhee, Shonka Dukureh, and Gary Clark Jr.
Trivia about production
The first report that Baz was making the Elvis Presley biopic that came out in 2014. There wasn’t any movement until Baz cast Tom Hanks and Colonel Parker and landed his Elvis in Austin. “Listen, I always stay out of the way and forewarn the work we’re doing, before we do it, but during testing, his commitment, [Austin’s] the ability to transform from his youth Elvis to beyond, he played very well,” said Baz Limit line.
Production was in full swing in March 2020 when Tom Hanks became the first A-list celebrity to catch COVID-19. “So I’m getting ready to start shooting on Monday, and I’m rehearsing the scene where we build the gallery in Vegas, and Tom instructs in Austin as Elvis, and it’s a scene that basically hundreds of girls kissing Elvis, on a ’70s show,” said Luhrmann Limit line. “Tom guides him through the crowd. Suddenly, I saw my producer, Patrick McCormick, on set, and he had the exact same look he had a week before. And I think, this can’t be good. You and the world know what happened next.
