On Sunday (May 22), trailers for Varun Dhawan, Kiara Advani, Anil, and Neetu Kapoor’s movieJugJuggle Jeeyo‘ was launched in the context of many complexities in the city. That multiplexer’s screen 2 is also Varun’s lucky mascot and as such, he likes to release his movie trailers at the on-board location. While the trailer has received a lot of love from fans, producer Karan Johar, who was also present at the event, was asked about the growing popularity of male films.
Karan Johar’s reaction to South Films is excellent
At the launch of the trailer, Karan Johar was asked about Male films making more money and breaking Hindi film records at the box office. The filmmaker emphasized that Hindi films are “on the right track” and added, “We are part of Indian Cinema. Whether RRR, KGF or Pushpa – we are proud of Indian cinema. Prashanth Neel, SS Rajamouli, Sukumar have absolutely told us how big our standards can be.Hindi movies are on the right track now – Gangubai Kathiawadi did a great job and now Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 is doing well. We hope JugJuggle Jeeyo will join the list of hits. Gujarati, Punjabi and Marathi movies are also doing well. We are all proud of Indian cinema.”
Karan Johar introduces Baahubali in 2015
Talking about his relationship with Southern movies, the filmmaker shared that he introduced SS Rajamouli’s film ‘Baahubali’ in 2015 and there wasn’t any “competition”. Karan Johar said, “In 2015, I introduced Bahubali. There is no competition, but growing together. We have to be one collective unit, one cinema.”
Varun Dhawan also join Karan to answer this question and share his opinion on the ongoing debate of Southern movies that is plaguing Bollywood. “Things like that unite the country even more. Cinema can unite the country,” said the young actor.
While Ranveer Singh and Kangana Ranaut’s respective films “Jayeshbhai Jordaar” and “Dhaakad” among other Hindi films failed to capture the hearts of audiences, Southern films like “KGF: Chapter 2” and “RRR” dominated the box office again.
Speaking of ‘JugJuggle Jeeyo,’ the movie is slated to hit theaters on June 24, 2022.
