Rashmika Mandanna dons Coorgi real style zari saree; Here’s everything you want to know about the tradition

Rashmika Mandanna recently quit her job and attend her childhood friend’s wedding in Bengaluru. Known for her laid-back, simple style, Rashmika opted for a blue georgette real zari saree by Shanti Banaras. What caught our attention, however, was her unique style of saree dress known as the Coorgi Saree or Kodagu style.

Hailing from the state of Karnataka, this traditional saree is known for its signature style of front pallu that is neatly folded over the shoulders and the folds are pushed back. One can see in the pictures, Rashmika Mandanna showed off her ethnic look with gold stud earrings and necklace by Jaipur-based Abhilasha Jewelry.

One of the reasons women in Coorg wear their sarees in the Kodagu style is to have a comfortable ride and navigate the area’s hillsides and even climb trees. It is unique on its own! In the case of the bride, it is worn with a veil or headscarf.

Rashmika keeps her look as minimalist and traditional as possible. She wears her hair straight and basic makeup completes her look.
